The listings you never check still get read
Google isn't the only place people look. Yelp is where plenty of diners, salon clients and event planners go to compare. Bing is the default search in Microsoft Edge and Windows, and Bing Places supplies the business details behind Bing search and Bing Maps. Facebook is where people check whether you're still open before they drive over.
These listings also feed each other. Yelp reviews and photos appear on many Apple Maps place cards, so a stale Yelp page can show up on an iPhone. Search engines and map apps cross-check your name, address and phone across sources. When they disagree, an old number or a previous address can resurface almost anywhere, including places you never set up yourself.
Each platform has its own rules. Yelp doesn't allow businesses to ask customers for reviews, and its software filters some reviews out of the main count. Nobody can pay Yelp to remove a review or change a rating. Bing Places can import your Google profile, which is fast but copies Google's mistakes too. Correct setup means knowing those rules before touching anything. Some customers still pick a restaurant, a stylist or a contractor from Yelp before they open anything else.

Questions owners ask.
How do I update my business information on Yelp?
Claim your page through Yelp for Business, verify you're the owner, then edit hours, phone, address, categories and photos. Some changes go to Yelp for review before they show. We claim it, correct it and match it to your other listings. We never ask your customers for Yelp reviews, because Yelp's rules don't allow it.
What is Bing Places and do I need it?
Bing Places for Business is Microsoft's version of a Google profile. It controls what shows on Bing search and Bing Maps, which is what Edge and Windows users see by default. It can import from your Google profile, so we fix Google first, then import and check every field by hand.
Can you get bad reviews removed from Yelp?
No. Nobody can pay Yelp to remove a review, and anyone promising that is selling something they can't deliver. Reviews that break Yelp's guidelines can be reported, and Yelp decides. What we do is make sure your page is claimed and accurate, so the next customer sees the real business.
Why does my business show the wrong phone number online?
Usually an old listing or directory still holds it, and other sources copy from there. Search engines and map apps cross-check sources, so one stale listing can keep resurfacing. We find where it's coming from, correct the listings we can claim, and report the rest. At day 30 we recheck it, and Covered, running Found, $395/mo, keeps every listing matching after that.
